Temporary Public Art - Recovered Wood Project

The City of Dublin commissioned a temporary art display using wood recovered from fallen oak trees. The trees were cut into a variety of sizes including rounds and trunk sections. Qualified artists and student artists were invited to submit designs for this unique temporary art project.  Eight proposals were received during the submission period which closed in July 2021.

The Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission considered the design proposals, discussed possible display locations, and made a recommendation to the City Council for approval at its regular meeting in August 2021.  The recommendation was to move forward with four proposals by two different artists.   In September 2021, the City Council reviewed the recommendation from the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission and approved the artwork selections.

Artworks were completed in March 2022 and are now on display at various locations throughout the City.  Pictures of the finished pieces are shown below.
