San Francisco Opera's Performance of “Bohème Out of the Box" Comes to Emerald Glen Park
In collaboration with the San Francisco Opera (“Opera”), the City of Dublin will be hosting the Opera’s free performance of “Bohème Out of the Box,” from March 31 through April 2, at the Emerald Glen Park Amphitheater (4201 Central Parkway). This one-hour version of Puccini’s opera will be sung in Italian and feature English dialogue.
Performances
- Friday, March 31, 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, April 1, 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, April 2, 2:00 p.m.
Food/beverage will be available onsite. Guests are encouraged to bring low-back chairs and/or blankets, and to dress warmly. For the Friday and Saturday evening performances, it would be a good idea to bring a flashlight to find your way back to your car after the performance. Sorry, but pets are not allowed.
Pre-Opera Talk
Join us in front of the stage forty-five minutes before show time at evening performances for an in-depth lecture with scholars from San Francisco Opera. Whether you’re new to opera or a huge fan of Bohème, our Pre-Opera Talks are designed to guide you through key points of the story, the music, and the passion that only opera can deliver. In this case, delivered right out of a box!
First Act Workshop
Families with young children are invited to join us forty-five before showtime at Sunday matinées for an imaginary trip to Cafe Momus, a lively cafe in Paris and the setting of Act Two of La Bohème. We’ll discover a group of artists that gather there and are the main characters in this classic opera. Bring along your favorite stuffed-animal friend and dance to “Musetta’s Waltz,” one of the most famous and beloved melodies in all of opera. Located very close to the stage, we’ll have you back to your spot just in time for the show!
Registration at sfopera.com/box is encouraged, but not required. Those who do register will receive a discount for select San Francisco Opera summer season performances.
