Sidewalk Repairs

Sidewalk Repairs

Damaged sidewalks are the responsibility of the adjacent property owner as stated in the California Streets and Highways Code (Streets and Highways Code § 5610 et seq.). In addition, the City of Dublin also requires that the property owner maintain the sidewalk adjacent to their property (Dublin Municipal Code Section 7.04.420).

When notified of a sidewalk offset, the City, as an interim measure, may perform a temporary repair of the damaged sidewalk. This does not relieve the property owner of the responsibility to repair the sidewalk.

As a courtesy to residents, the City has a program to repair sidewalks, curbs, and gutters throughout Dublin. This program has limited funds and potential repair locations are prioritized based on severity, pedestrian volumes, and proximity to schools/parks/senior centers. If the City project does not repair the sidewalk, the responsibility for the repair will fall back to the property owner. Property owners must apply for an encroachment permit through the Public Works Department in order to work on the sidewalk.

Residents may call Public Works at 925-833-6630 or use SeeClickFix to report a damaged sidewalk. For more information please see the City's Sidewalk Repair Ordinance
