As Dublin students continue distance learning due to COVID-19, the City of Dublin has added another three-week session to its "L.I.V.E. 'n' Rec" program. The new session runs from October 19 through November 6.
L.I.V.E. ‘n’ Rec (Learning in a Virtual Environment) is designed to offer support for working parents with children in kindergarten to 5th grades. Registration is offered in three-week sessions, per COVID-19 protocol, and will continue as long as the Dublin Unified School District continues with distance-only learning.
Students are assigned to stable cohort groups of not more than 14, adhering to all State and County safety guidelines and protocol. This includes daily temperature checks, proper social distancing, frequent hand washing, and regular sanitizing of supplies and equipment.
Once distance learning is complete, play begins. Students engage in cooperative games, activities, sports, fitness activities, creative play, and arts and crafts.
Students must bring all distance learning equipment and materials including laptop computers, headphones, pens, pencils, notebooks, etc., as well as the specific links and passwords required to access their schoolwork. Students must also bring their own lunches, snacks, and beverages. No food will be provided due to COVID-19 protocols.
The program is open, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at four sites in Dublin: Shannon Community Center, Dublin Senior Center, The Wave at Emerald Glen Park, and Dublin Library.
The cost for each three-week session is $300 for Dublin residents; $360 for non-residents. Weekly payment plans are available and may be selected at registration.
