The City of Dublin invites qualified professional artists, or high school student-artists working under the supervision of an art teacher or art professional, to submit designs for painted utility boxes, now through March 18, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. This popular Public Art Program has added color and character to Dublin’s streets, while deterring graffiti and other forms of vandalism.
Following positive public response to painted utility boxes Dublin has added around town, the Dublin City Council is expected to approve funding for ten more utility boxes to be painted in Summer 2020. The ten utility boxes are at intersections throughout Dublin. In the application, artists may review the locations and specify which utility box they would like to paint, or if they have no preference. However, the City reserves the right to assign utility boxes at its discretion.
Designs must, in some way, "include or reflect the City’s diversity, historic heritage, or key activity through Dublin.”
