[ARCHIVED] Dublin Police Services to Participate in Prescription Drug Collection Event

Dublin Police Services, along with the Drug Enforcement Administration, will participate in this year’s national prescription drug “Take-Back Initiative” on Saturday, September 27, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at the Dublin Civic Center (100 Civic Plaza). The goal of the event is to collect potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs for destruction. Dublin Police Officers will collect tablets, capsules, and all other solid dosage forms of prescription medications with no questions asked. Intravenous solutions, injectables, and syringes will not be accepted.

Prescription drug abuse is an epidemic in this country. Teenagers are abusing prescription medication in record numbers. One way young people are getting addicted to dangerous drugs is by raiding the medicine cabinets of family and friends. This free, anonymous service is designed to help keep homes free of unwanted prescription drugs, which could, in turn, save lives.
