Business Licenses

Requirements & Fees

All entities and persons doing business in the incorporated area of the City of Dublin (including subcontractors) are required to have a current business license. Most businesses (the primary exception being for nonprofit organizations) pay a registration fee each year for their business license in Dublin.

Lowest Business License Fee in the Tri-Valley Area

The City of Dublin has the lowest fee in the Tri-Valley area for a business license. The City only charges the amount necessary to recover its regulatory costs instead of basing its fee on the amount of gross revenue generated or staff employed by a business, as many other cities do, which often results in a substantially higher fee.

Changes to Business License Administration

Effective Monday, August 18, 2025, the City has partnered with HdL Companies to manage all business license services, including applications, renewals, and modifications to existing licenses.
