Local Government & the Democratic Process
General municipal elections are held in November of even-numbered years. The next General Municipal Election will be held November 3, 2026.
Two members of the City Council remain elected at-large to serve the entire community, and two members of the City Council are elected by Council Districts, Districts 1 and 3. The Mayor is directly elected to a two-year term and the four City Council members are elected to four-year staggered terms.
City Council Districts
On September 6, 2022, the Dublin City Council adopted Ordinance No. 10-22 Amending Chapter 2.32 of the Dublin Municipal Code Establishing a District-Based Election System (opens in a new tab) and Resolution No. 105-22 Adopting the City of Dublin Official District Map (opens in a new tab). Dublin voters participated in the first district-based election in November 2024, when two City Council seats were up for election in Districts 1 and 3. The Mayor's seat was up for election citywide. In November 2026, City Council seats in Districts 2 and 4 and the Mayor's seat will be on the ballot.

Election Sequence
The following is the adopted election sequence for the City Councilmembers. The Mayor will continue to be elected at-large every two years.
