Situational Awareness Cameras

Situational Awareness Cameras

On May 15, 2018, the Dublin City Council approved the procurement of 53 situational awareness cameras to be installed at 16 intersections throughout the City.  Installation was completed in 2018.  The cameras are strategically located to capture traffic both coming into and leaving the City.  The situational cameras ("Sitcams") have the ability to capture real-time footage of an entire area, such as a major intersection.  They also have the ability to capture criminal activity and suspect descriptions in situations when a vehicle is not involved, in addition to detecting vehicle license plates and a description of vehicle occupants.  Specifically, the Sitcam video system provides on-board archiving and on-demand live monitoring of activity for public safety without the need for a centralized server.  The Sitcam video system provides up-to-the-second intelligence when responding to an incident, as well as generating investigative leads.
