Celebrate National Bike Month in Dublin!

May is National Bike Month and the City of Dublin is collaborating with Bike East Bay to offer a variety of activities that the whole family can enjoy. Hit the trails; post your experiences on social media and tag the City; and take advantage of both in-person and virtual bike events: 

May 8: Urban Cycling 101 Day 1 Workshop - Online Webinar

Learn basic rules of the road; how to equip your bicycle; fit your helmet; use different types of bike infrastructure; and avoid common hazards.  A two-hour, online workshop for adults and teens can be found at https://bikeeastbay.org/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=1825.

May 19: Bike Mechanics: Cleaning Your Bike - Online Webinar

Keeping your bike clean, especially during the wet months, can help keep it running smooth and worry-free, and increase the life of your bike's components, saving you money down the line.  At this webinar, certified bike instructor Binky Brown will cover the basic process for routine bike cleaning.  Follow along at home if you have the tools, and be prepared to ask questions!  Learn more: https://bikeeastbay.org/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=1818

May 21: Bike to Wherever Day

In lieu of Bike to Work Day, pledge to ride on May 21 for Bike to Wherever Day!  You’ll get a map of energizer stations, a digital goody bag, and self-guided rides to celebrate the big day!  Event information: https://bikeeastbay.org/events/bike-wherever-day-2021

May 22: Urban Cycling 101 Day 2 Road Class - Dublin

The class will cover on-road, on-your-bike practice sessions; working in small groups with certified instructors to improve your handling skills; emergency maneuvers; and ability to confidently and safely bike on all types of streets and pathways. May 22: Swag Giveaway on Alamo Canal Trail at Civic Center

City staff will be tabling near the entrance of Alamo Canal Trail next to Dublin Civic Center with free swag and informational giveaways in partnership with Bike East Bay. Timing and additional details coming soon. 

May 26: Bike Theft Prevention - Online Webinar

Learn how to protect your bike from theft. The webinar will cover topics such as locking techniques, secure parking options, bike registration, and strategies for how to recover a stolen bike. Learn more: https://bikeeastbay.org/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=1824

May 27: Bike to Market Day

Ride your bike to the Dublin Farmers' Market at Emerald Glen Park (4201 Central Parkway) between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on May 27 to receive $5 in "carrot cash" to use at the Market.
