The Dublin City Council has authorized the temporary waiver of certain Zoning Ordinance requirements to facilitate business operations affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This action is being taken in an effort to assist restaurants, retail, fitness, and other businesses in need of outdoor space that are experiencing, and will continue to experience, severe negative economic impacts due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including distancing requirements established by Health Orders for the safety of customers, workers, and the general public.
The June 5, 2020, Health Order is currently in effect; however, Alameda County has announced in a press release dated June 12, 2020, that there will be an easing of regulations to allow for outdoor dining, retail, and fitness establishments to reopen starting Friday, June 19, 2020. In preparation for the easing of restrictions, businesses may file a request for a waiver with the City of Dublin’s Planning Division related to outdoor seating for restaurants, temporary outdoor display of merchandise for retail businesses, or outdoor fitness classes for fitness gyms/studios.
There is no fee associated with this waiver, which can be filed electronically and will be reviewed within 48 hours. Businesses can download the COVID-19 Relief Temporary Use Permit Application online and submit it to email@example.com.
