Estimated Project Completion: Fall 2021 Total Estimated Project Cost:$1.5 million
The City has initiated a renovation of the Pioneer Cemetery. In Fall 2020, the City Council approved plans for the project in the Dublin Heritage Park along Donlon Way. While the Dublin Pioneer Cemetery is currently an active cemetery, there are no plots available for purchase. With the upcoming renovation of the cemetery, residents will have the opportunity to memorialize loved ones with a monument in their honor.
The main path through the cemetery is Hawthorn Way. New hawthorn trees will be planted along this pathway, and memorial plaques may be purchased in someone’s honor and mounted at the base of a tree. A new walkway, made up of engraved memorial pavers, is also part of the renovation. Additionally, new benches and boulders will be installed, which can be purchased in memoriam and also hold the cremains of loved ones. The space adjacent to Old St. Raymond Church will also be renovated to include an enhanced gathering space. This space will provide a welcoming area for individuals, small groups, and private functions utilizing Heritage Park.
Funding for the project comes from a developer contribution from the Schaefer Ranch project. Construction began in Spring 2021 and is expected to be completed by fall. Those interested in the memorial program can email HeritagePark@dublin.ca.gov.
