Public Participation in Commission and Committee Meetings

Meeting Procedure During Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak:

Pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Order N-29-20 (March 17, 2020), the City is authorized to hold public meetings via teleconferencing and to make public meetings accessible telephonically or otherwise electronically to all members of the public, without making available any physical location for the public. The Governor’s Executive Order N-08-21 (June 11, 2021) has extended this provision regarding the conduct of public meetings through September 30, 2021. The following practices will be implemented during upcoming Commission and Committee meetings:

Commission and Committee meetings will be conducted on the web-video communication platform, Zoom. In order to view or participate in this meeting, members of the public will need to download Zoom from its website, It is recommended that anyone wishing to participate in the meeting complete the download process before the start of the meeting. 

Viewing the Meeting

Participating in the Meeting

  • Online speaker slips will be available the day of the meeting, and the public will be able to call in using a computer and/or smart phone via a link which will be provided following submission of the speaker slip.  A telephonic option will also be available.  
  • Once connected, the public speaker will be placed in an online waiting room.  While in the waiting room, the public speaker will hear the meeting while they are connected and waiting to speak.  
  • When the agenda item upon which the individual would like to comment is addressed, the speaker will be announced in the meeting when it is his/her time to speak to the committee.  The speaker will then be moved to the meeting for comment.
