Open Spaces - Room to Roam!
The City of Dublin currently features two open land developments, as well as a development opened and cared for by the East Bay Regional Park District:
- Dougherty Hills Open Space: Amador Valley Boulevard and Stagecoach Road (107.5 acres)
The largest of the City's open space areas, Dougherty Hills offers sweeping views of Mount Diablo and the Tri-Valley. The trailhead is located north of Amador Valley Boulevard and east of Stagecoach Road. The trail follows the top of the ridge north to the Dublin city limit. Dogs must remain leashed at all times. - Martin Canyon Creek Trail: Silvergate Drive and Bay Laurel Drive (18.5 acres)
The Martin Canyon Creek Trail is one of Dublin's little-known treasures. This improved trail follows Martin Canyon Creek for 0.89 miles and offers amazing views of the Tri-Valley and the canyons leading to the west. Large oaks and bay trees line the creek and trail and provide tranquil areas for respite. The trailhead is located at the corner of Silvergate and Bay Laurel drives. - Dublin Hills Regional Park: Dublin Boulevard and Marshall Canyon Drive (654 acres)
This open space park, part of the East Bay Regional Park District, offers some of the best views found in the Tri-Valley, including the San Francisco skyline and the Golden Gate Bridge. The park's trails, including a segment of the Calaveras Ridge Regional Trail, are perfect for hikers, bicyclists, and equestrians. The Calaveras Ridge Trail begins near the Schaefer Ranch development in Dublin and soon delivers you to grassland areas largely untouched since the 1800s.
Being Aware of Others
The City allows recreational use of open space areas consistent with resource protection and preservation. Many people come out to the trails seeking a chance to get away from the urban environment, but, in order to help make multiple-use trails work, each user must be aware of the needs of others.
For this reason, all visitors are asked to comply with our trail regulations that have proven effective in providing resource protection and a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
