Seniors and Older Adults

During the COVID-19 Shelter-in-Place order

In accordance with guidance from County and State officials, the Shelter-in-Place (SIP) order has been extended. The Dublin Senior Center is closed and all activities, classes and events have been cancelled.

All registrations can either be transferred to a later class, or refunded. City of Dublin staff will contact you to discuss options for those registrations that cannot be refunded automatically.

We will continue to monitor the situation and will communicate any updates through news flashes on the City of Dublin website. We sincerely apologize for this unexpected closure and we appreciate you patience for any inconvenience.

Meal Programs

Open Heart Kitchen will continue to distribute takeout lunches, Monday to Friday, 11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. to seniors with reservations. Reservations need to be made by phone only, by 1:00 p.m. the day before (or on Friday for Monday) by calling Open Heart Kitchen at (925) 500-8241.  The menu and more information can be found at Open Heart Kitchen.

On April 24, 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom announced the launch of a first-in-the-nation “Great Plates Delivered” program, a meal delivery service for California’s older adults.   The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance (PA) program has authorized a time extension for the Great Plates Delivered program to August 9, 2020.

Great Plates Delivered has two purposes:

  1. Help seniors and other adults at high risk from COVID-19 to stay home and stay healthy by delivering three nutritious meals a day, and
  2. Provide essential economic stimulus to local businesses struggling to stay afloat during the COVID-19 crisis.
